Here we shall explore further his activities as a priest, a university chaplain specifically, in the parish of St. Florian, also in Krakow, where he was reassigned. There the new scene of action for the young priest was the Jagielonian University where a new center of ministry to students was opened. His schedule was hectic and he had to work from sixteen to eighteen hours a day, conferencing, lecturing or just attending to liturgical services.

As usual in an event like this, the Holy Mass was the celebration piece. But the occasion too inspired people to remember the life and work of contemporary Church's "greatest Pope". For Karol Wojtyla was a colorful and dynamic spiritual leader in the twentieth century, a multi-talented man, a teacher, philosopher, playwright, poet, social worker, and in a subtle way, a freedom fighter.

One of the most important moments in Karol Wojtyla’s life came on a cold Saturday afternoon in February 1940 at the Salesian Fathers’ parish church of St. Stanislaw Kostka in Deniki, a few blocks from Karol’s house on Tyniecka Street. The special moment occurred when Karol met an unprepossessing 40-year-old tailor named Jan Leopold Tyranowski at a religious discussion at the parish church.
