Napolcom officer-in-charge Commissioner Linda Hornilla said the promotions were approved on Jan. 16.


In a statement, Hornilla also defended the agency from criticisms by the PNP, which blamed Napolcom for the delay of the approval of the promotions.

                    [Summary] => All 1,425 policemen who defended Malacañang from rampaging supporters of ousted President Joseph Estrada two years ago will be promoted on orders of the National Police Commission (Napolcom).


In a statement, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jose Lina, who is also Napolcom chairman, said the promotions are contained in two separate resolutions, which Napolcom had approved "in principle" based on the recommendation of the Philippine National Police’s Special Promotions, Awards and Decorations Board.
