[Title] => Senators want SC to dismiss petition seeking to bar listening to 'Hello Garci' tapes
[Summary] =>
Seven minority senators on Wednesday asserted that the Senate is not barred from playing the "Hello Garci" tapes as part of its inquiry, in aid of legislation, to unearth the truth about the tapes, and to provide the people with information on matters of public concern.
They articulated this stand in their comment before the Supreme Court to the petition of Santiago Ranada and Oswaldo Agcaoili which seeks to stop the Senate from reinvestigating the wiretapping controversy.

[Title] => Legislators willing to drop objection to JPEPA with Japan commitment
[Summary] =>
The commitment of Japan not to export toxic wastes to the Philippines will be a major factor that will convince members of the Senate to drop their objections to the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA), Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) said Sunday.
Pimentel said, however, that as far as he knew, Malacañang has not yet transmitted the JPEPA to the Senate since it was signed in Helsinki, Finland by the Japanese and Philippine government in September, 2006.
