While there is no denying the fact that the quality of today’s local lifestyle and fashion magazines has improved a hundredfold both in visual appeal and content since the days of newsprint and smudgy ink, personally I have yet to find a magazine that speaks to me and talks about women my age.

I  collect old magazines. Not the ones you see on the shelves of bookstores and convenience stores everywhere, despite the fact that I edit a magazine myself — BluPrint — for those who don’t know.

My store got its name from the Egyptian word papyrus. I just added vore as in carnivore, so Papyvore means a paper lover or someone who devours paper.

CAIB chairman Rene Josef Bullecer yesterday told The Freeman that based on a city ordinance, no magazine shall be sold to the public in the absence of CAIB review.

Bullecer said CAIB will review stories and photos that are published in all magazines, and, if the board finds these printed materials offensive and/or pornographic, the magazine will not be given clearance to be sold within the city.
