The Sandiganbayan denied yesterday the request of former President Joseph Estrada to visit his ailing mother again in her house in San Juan, following reports that he used the opportunity to meet opposition leaders. 


Justices of the graft court of the Special Division observed that Estrada’s Nov. 6 visit to the house of his 102-year-old mother Doña Mary Ejercito on Kennedy St. at the posh North Greenhills subdivision was more of a political gathering than a concerned son’s visit to his sick mother.

Ousted President Joseph Estrada asked the Special Division of the Sandiganbayan yesterday for a three-day special pass so he can spend All Saints’ Day with his ailing 102-year-old mother.


In a two-page motion filed by his lawyer, former Senator Rene Saguisag, Estrada said he would like to be with his mother Doña Mary Ejercito in Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila by noon on Nov. 1 and then return to his resthouse in Tanay, Rizal by the afternoon of Nov. 3.
