I’m having a really bad day as I write this. Again.

When we became teenagers, she became our chaperone. And when we became young adults, she turned into our barkada. All throughout, she was like a mother to me and my siblings and she loved and treated us like her own. That’s perhaps because she and my mom were very, very close as sisters – I cannot say for sure. [Summary] => Too many things happened this year that I have yet to come to terms with fully: Loved ones suffering, close friends dying, friendships severed, confidences betrayed, natural disasters happening one after the other, families falling apart, lives lost, dreams shattered, hopes downcast.

Tragedy, after all, is relative. So is sadness. So, too, are broken hearts.

There was just too much of it in 2004.

[Summary] => I remember my first Easter egg hunt.

In Ormoc where I grew up, we observed all the Holy Week customs like visiting seven churches and making the stations of the cross but it was only in Cebu, in my maternal grandmother’s home, that my sister and I and some of our other cousins joined our first Easter egg hunt.
