[Title] => Jennifer Jones' Carrie, circa '51
[Summary] => Long before the Sissy Spacek starrer Carrie in 1976, Jennifer Jones starred in a similarly titled movie in 1951. While Spacek’s Carrie is about the telekinesis revenge of a high school girl, Jones’ Carrie tells of the exploits of a sophisticated lady, “using men even when she didn’t want to.”

[Title] => Lovem letters
[Summary] =>
Last weekend, I finally watched a movie that everyone was talking about, The Notebook. In one scene, the boy was writing faithfully to his girlfriend and he kept this going every day, for a full year. She never received the letters because her mother concealed and confiscated them. When they finally met after many years, she accused him, "Why did you not write me?" He replied, "I wrote you every day." His letters contained all the loving thoughts and emotions he kept for her.

[Title] => A song remembered
[Summary] => There are many weighty and discouraging subjects on which to discourse in a pretentious opinion column like this in truth, too many to know where to begin the scolding, wailing, and recriminations.
But on a Sunday morning, following the Sabbath, perhaps its time to take a moment not to address our "fiscal" but our spiritual deficits. (Of which, mea maxima culpa, this pecador has so many.)

[Title] => The Song of Bernadette
[Summary] => For this writer who often enough has the wrong priorities, the story of the week wasnt the spectacular kick-off of the Olympics in Athens, with 10,000 athletes participating including our doughty 16 nor the doping suspicions which may knock two of Greeces own Olympians out of the arena.
Nor was it the "Smokey Mountain" controversy whipped up possibly with good reason by Typhoon Miriam.

[Title] => The truly deserving Oscar winners
[Summary] => In yesterdays 76th Academy Awards, I was for a while worried that Hollywood voters would go sentimental and crown Dianne Keaton with the Best Actress award (for Somethings Gotta Give) instead of my bet Charlize Theron, who to my great relief went home with the trophy for outstanding actress in a lead role (for Monster).
