[Title] => Injustice & corruption: A 20-year old problem
[Summary] =>
Allow me to grab a pun or thought from our publisher Mr. Juanito Jabat who would have written in his column "Have Bat Will Strike... about yesterday's "dry" run for the ASEAN Summit Security preparations that it really was not a dry but a "wet" run as the rains kept drenching us for the last three days. Thankfully, these rains are a result of a tropical depression due to a cold front and strong "Amihan" winds and not coming from any typhoon. Strong rains definitely won't be enough to cause the postponement of the 12th ASEAN Leader's Summit. So come rain or come shine...

[Title] => In defense of the Compostela Municipal Council
[Summary] => Instead of being castigated or made fun of, the Compostela MC ought to be commended for their concern over what to them appears as grammatical gaffe of Sun Cellular tv ad, using this blurb: "It's raining outside, aren't they?" Its resolution which got the nod of the Cebu Provincial Board aims to correct it into: "It's raining outside, isn't it?"
The Sun Digitel Telecom VP takes the criticism in stride, albeit belying any aim to promote bad English, but merely a stab at humor to dramatize the common expressions in using the Sun's techno-facilities.

[Title] => Letter to the Editor Why do I read Freeman?
[Summary] =>
Let me count the ways... Oh, I mean, allow me to cite the raison d'être behind my preference of Freeman over other local dailies:
1. I like how the Editor expounds on the issue, how he expresses his opinion and his matter-of-fact view on the day's particular topic.
2. I admire Mr. Bobit Avila's style in writing his article 'Shooting Straight'. I really do respect his views on politics among other things, his courage in exposing anomalies and the way he makes 'banat' on those needing wake-up calls most especially. I am rooting for you, sir!
