Government prosecutors opposed a "city arrest" for deposed President Joseph Estrada, saying there is no legal basis for it.

In an urgent manifestation, former senator Rene Saguisag, Estrada’s lead counsel, cited the 1948 case of Fernando Alano who escaped from detention to look for witnesses that could help refute the charges of rebellion complex with murder, arson and robbery against him.
