[Title] => The RH bill controversy
[Summary] => The quarrel between the Catholic bishops and the proponents of the RH bill, including President Aquino himself, cannot be easily settled for this reason: The bishops argue on the basis of spiritual conviction while the RH enthusiasts build their stand on secular grounds.

[Title] => Abortions at Advent
[Summary] => There has been a spate of murders in this city early this month, which, ironically, is the birth month of Jesus Christ. Ironically too, these happened during the novena week of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Cebu. The victims were stillborn babies which were apparently aborted or “killed” and thrown away. The perpetrators? Most probably unwed mothers or married women who disdained motherhood.

[Title] => Sanctity of family life
[Summary] => Even a high school dropout cannot be mistaken about Section 3(1) Article XV of the Constitution when it provides that: "The State shall defend the right of the spouses to found a family in accordance with their religious convictions and the demands of responsible parenthood." I am sure Congressmen Edcel Lagman and Ace Barbers know that under this Constitutional mandate, determining the size of the family is the inherent right and the exclusive prerogative of married Filipino couples which the State must defend, not violate or interfere with.

[Title] => Conspiracy against life
[Summary] => One does not really have to be an economist to see clearly that fast tracking our economic growth does not mainly depend on slowing down our population growth through an aggressive and drastic population control by the use of contraceptives or other artificial means. The health of the Philippine economy depends more on solving the problems of peace and order, graft and corruption, inadequate educational system, too much politics and social injustice perpetrated by big business.
