Former Senator Edgardo J. Angara, in his keynote speech at the Philippine Education Conference 2013 at the SMX Convention Center last Monday, outlined the steps that the country has to take if it is to compete in 2015 when trade and education barriers are removed within the ASEAN region. Following the success of the 2nd World Conference on Arts Education (25-28 May 2010, Seoul), the 4th week of May has been proclaimed as International Arts Education Week by UNESCO’s General Conference at its 36th session presided by UNESCO Director General, Dr. Irina Bokova.
