Sources from the mainstream MNLF said their chairman, Hatimil Hassan, an incumbent member of the ARMMs Regional Legislative Assembly, withdrew his candidacy last Friday after learning that the Lakas-Christian, Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), the ruling political party, had declared a "free zone" for candidates of the K-4 coalition.

In a "free zone," the ruling K-4 coalition will recognize all candidates running under the banner of political parties comprising it, said Claudio, senior deputy secretary general of Lakas-Christian, Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).

Maguindanao Rep. Simeon Datumanong, regional chairman of the Lakas-CMD, said Mayor Datu Zaldy Ampatuan of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao got 10 votes from the screening panel chaired by Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process Teresita Deles.
