It’s remarkable that we’ve lasted this long, a quarter of a century, and for that, all NBA winners have to thank Dr. Isagani Cruz, our fellow columnist in this paper, for his dedication and leadership.

Last Saturday, UMPIL (Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas) or Writers Union of the Philippines held its 32nd Annual Congress and 19th Gawad Balagtas Rites at the Intellectual Property Office on Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City.

                    [Summary] => A few weeks ago, over four days, the UP Institute of Creative Writing held a writers’ workshop of a sort in Tagaytay City. I was very glad to be able to be there, partly because it afforded me a welcome break from my office duties, and also because I helped design and put the thing together. (Ok, let’s toss modesty out the window and admit that we were the director of this workshop – whatever that means.)

                    [Summary] => A few weeks ago, one of the most precious members of our Pangilinan clan died.  Her name was Astrid.  She was the mother of our panganay, Martha, our pet beagle.  Astrid was my sister-in-law Donna’s dog until she gave her up for adoption when she and her family had to move to London for a while.  Astrid found her home in Antipolo in my in-laws’ compound.
