Several years ago the Association of Road Race Organizers (ARRO) was formed to set guidelines on footraces while fostering harmony among race organizers.   At the time it was easy to control running events since there were only a few.

It looks like there’s no stopping the running craze in Cebu. From the weekly races sometimes two, in one Sunday, Saturdays are now being considered.

Earlier, Rey and I were thinking of canceling the race since it would lose momentum with people taking it easy after the holidays. But tradition won in the end. Race director Raffy Uytiepo and CSCC assistant manager Bingo Santos said the race, which is limited to just 150 runners on a first-come-first served basis, is being patterned after the New York City Midnight Run held on New Year’s Eve at Central Park NY.

The run which is expected to draw Cebu’s cream-of-the crop is co-sponsored by Pharmaton Capsules, Adidas, Rudy Project, Gatorade, Island Grill Express, Nature’s Spring and Cebu Holdings.
