[Summary] => Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza ordered yesterday the relief of Coast Guard Commandant Vice Adm. Arthur Gosingan, about a month away from his mandatory retirement.

"He reached the maximum tenure of three years as commandant last Nov. 4," Lt. Commander Joseph Coyme, PCG spokesman, said in a statement.

"In accordance with the law, he was relieved as commandant. But it is different from his retirement. He’ll get his retirement benefits when he retires from the service on Dec. 9."            [DatePublished] => 2006-11-10 00:00:00 [ColumnID] => 133272 [Focus] => 0 [AuthorID] => [AuthorName] => [SectionName] => Headlines [SectionUrl] => headlines [URL] => ) [1] => Array ( [ArticleID] => 356818 [Title] => Findings on Solar 1 sinking out Friday; GMA vows no whitewash [Summary] => ILOILO CITY — Experts will come out with their recommendations on what to do with the sunken tanker Solar I by tomorrow, the Coast Guard said yesterday.
