Solar Spikers acquire Coronel

MANILA, Philippines — The Capital1 Solar Spikers may have found the last piece to the championship puzzle they’ve been looking for–a young, talented setter in Julia Coronel.

Coronel signed up with the Mandy and Milka Romero-owned franchise yesterday, two days after bidding goodbye to her old squad Galeries Tower where she played for more than two years.

The 5-9, 24-year-old 2024 third overall pick joins a team that has been in need of depth at the setter’s spot and should provide versatility as well.

She will split time with an injury-prone veteran Jasmine Nabor and Jaja Maraguinot, also a new member of the club that came in the same signings as Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos over a month ago.

Meanwhile, Aby Maraño had played her last game with Nxled, having announced her retirement.
