Dyip roll to third straight win, zoom past Bossing

MANILA, Philippines -- Make it three in a row for the Terrafirma Dyip.
Terrafirma had its best start in a PBA conference since 2016 after drubbing the Blackwater Bossing, 99-88, in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Dyip thus had its first 3-0 start since the 2016 Governor’s Cup, where they won four straight in the import-laden conference.
Mubashar Ali had a monster double-double for the Dyip with 22 points and 23 rebounds, to go with three assists and a block. Pao Hernandez chipped in 20 markers, five boards, three dimes, two swats and two steals.
Terrafirma had a strong start, going up 33-15 in the first quarter, and as much as 20 points, 40-20, in the second frame.
But a massive 27-8 run, capped by a jumper by Sedrick Barefield, made it a one point game, 47-48.
But the Dyip found their groove once again, retaking a 10 point lead, 71-61, after a Hernandez layup.
Blackwater then played catchup the rest of the way, and while Christian David and Sedrick Barefield tried to keep it closer, Terrafirma just had answer after answer for the win.
Jerrick Ahanmisi added 18 markers for the winning team, while Joseph Eriobu and Mav Ahanmisi had 12 and 10, respectively.
The Dyip has tied last season's total wins in this conference alone.
Barefield waxed hot off the bench for Blackwater with 25 points, five rebounds and three assists. Import Daniel Ochefu had 11 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort for the 0-2 Bossing.
