Foxies roar, soar higher

MANILA, Philippines — Farm Fresh drew another extraordinary performance from Helena Rousseaux as it dumped Capital1, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, yesterday to extend its breakthrough run in the PVL Reinforced Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The prolific Belgian spiker uncorked 36 points including 33 on spikes to power the Foxies to their third straight victory – their best start in franchise history.

“I’m super happy. I didn’t know that this is like history for Farm Fresh to be 3-0 and I’m grateful to be part of it,” said Rosseaux.

Her latest feat was two hits shy from her mammoth 38-point performance in their first win over Nxled in Dasmariñas last Oct. 9.

With American import Marlee Smith steadily finding her rhythm, Choco Mucho shook off a roller-coaster start, subduing Nxled, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22, later in the night.

The Flying Titans needed to grind out every set against a hungry yet winless Nxled side, but with Smith slowly rediscovering her offensive groove and the team responding collectively under pressure, Choco Mucho stayed on track for a Top 3 finish in Pool A with a 2-1 record.

In the nightcap, Cignal shocked sibling rival PLDT, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, to claim its first win in three starts.
