Filipinas win Dubai friendly

MANILA, Philippines — With striker Chandler McDaniel as spearhead, the Philippine women’s football team routed the United Arab Emirates, 4-1, in a friendly Friday night in Dubai.

McDaniel struck in the 19th and 33rd minutes to spark the Filipinas to a 4-0 cushion in the first half in the opener of two tuneup matches with the hosts.

Skipper Hali Long (8’) and midfielder Merryl Serrano (31’) joined the Stallion Laguna forward in the scoring fray at the UAE FA HQ in Al Khawaneej.

Coach Mark Torcaso said it was important for the squad to “implement our playing style” in this Dubai gig, which serves as part of its buildup for bigger battles ahead.
