P500 wage hike for Metro Manila kasambahay starts January 4

MANILA, Philippines — Household helpers or “kasambahay” in Metro Manila will receive an increase of P500 in their monthly salary beginning Jan. 4, 2025.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the minimum wage for kasambahay will increase to P7,000 from P6,500.

Except for Bicol and Davao regions, all the other Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) have issued orders granting pay hikes for minimum wage earners.

The RTWPB in Bicol deferred the process for a wage increase until February 2025 due to the effects of Typhoon Kristine.

Davao region is set to commence the wage deliberation process in January.

The wage board in Calabarzon granted the highest salary adjustment of up to P75.

Eastern Visayas and Cagayan Valley gave the least increase in daily pay, with P30.
