MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) has been recognized as the top institution in the Philippines in the AD Scientific Index 2025. This recognition reaffirms UP’s role as the country’s leader in research and scientific innovation. The AD Scientific Index ranking reflects UP’s commitment to excellence.

“On behalf of the University of the Philippines, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed UP scientists for leading the nation as the top institution in the AD Scientific Index 2025,” UP president Angelo Jimenez said. “This achievement affirms the dedication, skill and global influence of our researchers, who consistently advance knowledge and innovation. UP’s recognition for having the highest concentration of cited scientists, underscores the immense value of their work. This recognition not only enhances UP’s reputation but also strengthens our capacity to address complex national challenges.”

Professor emeritus Gisela Concepcion, special adviser to the president for research and innovation, stressed research as the foundation of UP’s innovation work. “Innovation is rooted in research,” Concepcion said.

The recent AI Horizons PH 2024 Conference on Oct. 24 and 25 at UP-BGC exemplified UP’s commitment to scientific expertise for national development.

The conference gathered experts in AI, data science and engineering to collaborate with UP specialists on key areas for national progress.
