PARIS – The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines isn’t stopping in search of gems to boost its stock, with a new prospect in Filipino-British Jake Jarman.
“Next Olympics, he wants to play for the Philippines. So we’ll seek FIG’s permission. I will write a letter and we’ll see if FIG says yes or no,” said GAP president Cynthia Carrion.
“Ang importante may Philippine passport siya,” said Carrion of the 22-year-old gymnast whose mom Anna is from Cebu.
Jarman and Carlos Yulo are good friends. But they set their friendship aside as both figure in the all events, floor exercise and vault finals in the 2024 Olympics gymnastics competition.
Jarman, from Peterborough, was in the 2021 Tokyo Games as a reserve for the British team. He’s playing in his first Olympics now coming from a gold-medal showing in vault in the 2023 World Championships with a high score of 15.050.
He has his own skill on floor exercise, called “The Jarman,” a 3.5-twisting double layout that he performed at the 2023 Paris World Challenge Cup.

Carlos Yulo took the throne in 2019 in Stuttgart and in 2021 in Kitakyushu. And he may have a big moment in Paris in the next few days.
