CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers representing Central Visayas maintained their perfect start with an 83-71 drubbing of Davao Region in basketball event of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games 2024 on Wednesday, July 24, at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation in Legaspi City, Albay.

UV’s latest win came barely 24 hours after the two-time Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) defending champions blasted Ilocos Region, 98-77.

Sustaining their momentum against the Davaoeños, the Gary Cortes-mentored Lancers never looked back after breezing through a 45-35 advantage at halftime.

Fully charged after the short break, the Lancers pounded their Region XI rivals in the third canto, 28-19, to mount a 73-54 advantage going into the final 10-minute mark of the contest.

It was cruise control for the Lancers from there onwards.

With a perfect 3-0 record, the Lancers advanced to the quarterfinal round where they will take on the Northern Mindanao-Region X at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday, July 25).
