BAGUIO, Philippines — David Charles Serdeña came through with birdies in two of the last three holes to finish with an opening one-over-par 69 or 53 Molave points for the lead in the Fil-A division of the Fil-Am Invitational Junior Championships at the Camp John Hay Golf Club.

After going three over in the initial six holes including a double bogey on the fifth, Serdeña found his stride, making consecutive birdies on Nos. 7 and 8, adding two on 10 and 12, then delivering another pair on 16 and 17 for a three-point lead over Baguio-based Korean An Seongmin.

Zhan Pocholo Medina occupies solo third with 50 followed by Francis Slavin 47, Mark Velasco 45, Seth Koa 44 and Juan Antonio Escaño 42 in the second edition of the tournament for junior golfers co-organized by Baguio Country Club (BCC) and CJHGC.

In Fil-B, Jeon Gunwoo turned in a 50, six up on rising jungolfer Felix Saludar. Aenzo Sulaik remains in contention after a 42.

Miguel Orbita, a CJHGC dependent, made 44 and raced to a big lead in Fil-C as Ezekiel Opinion and Park Hoonmin managed 31 and 26, respectively.

Over at BCC, it’s a close fight for the Am-B title with Zyrah de Leon (32) holding a slim advantage versus Cho Seungbin (31) and Monica Angheng (28).
