Lyceum joins CSB on top

MANILA, Philippines — Lyceum of the Philippines University coach Cromwell Garcia didn’t flinch when the Lady Pirates blew 7-0 leads twice, the first in the opening set and the other in the third and last.

He knew his team was tenacious enough to overcome any challenge.

And LPU did as it fended off a stubborn Jose Rizal U, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17, yesterday that propelled the former back to the top in NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

“Tiwala naman ako sa mga bata. Alam ko capability nila,” said Garcia.

It was the Lady Pirates’ sixth win in as many games, the same record the three-peat-seeking St. Benilde Lady Blazers have.

It also pushed LPU a victory closer to claiming a seat to the Final Four, hoping to make it to the finals again and earn another shot at its breakthrough championship.

But it won’t be an easy path though as they would battle in their last three games Letran (4-2), Mapua (4-2) and CSB (6-0).
