Choco seeks clearer view from above

MANILA, Philippines — Choco Mucho is fast turning into the championship caliber team it has envisioned itself to be.

And the Flying Titans will have a chance to inch closer to that title dream as they battle the Strong Group Athletics Spikers at 4 p.m. today in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena.

The franchise, which came a couple of games short from winning it all after it was swept in two games by elder sister Creamline in the finals in December last year, shares the lead with PLDT on a 7-1 record.

It included three straight wins that was capped by a 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 win over Capital1 Solar a week back.

If they hurdle the SGA Spikers (0-8), the Flying Titans should keep their stranglehold of No. 1 and on the cusp of making the semis for the second straight conference.

Choco Mucho coach Dante Alinsunurin knows they would need to continue to work harder to achieve the goal.

Choco Mucho could see the return of super spiker Kat Tolentino either on this game or its next – the much awaited sibling showdown with Creamline April 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum – after missing three games due to “an auditory condition.”

Deanna Wong is also on a reemergence after an impressive effort the last time out.

“It’s more of how we help each other and how we bring up each other,” said the immensely popular Wong.

Creamline, tied with Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo at No. 3 with 6-2 cards, hope to keep its place inside the magic four as it tangles with Nxled (3-5) at 6 p.m.
