De Liaño takes stuff to Lithuania
MANILA, Philippines — Juan Gomez de Liaño is set to become the first Filipino cager to strut his stuff in Europe as the former UP Maroon has hooked up with the BC Wolves in the Lithuanian basketball league.
De Liaño, 22, signed a one-year contract as announced by the Lithuanian club and his agency, the Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management (EMBM).
This will be the third and biggest destination for De Liaño after short stints in Indonesia and Japan.
In his homecoming two months ago, De Liaño stamped his class by winning the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup MVP award behind astounding averages of 18.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.2 steals for runner-up Marinerong Pilipino.
He is expected to carry the same level of play to contribute for BC Wolves currently sporting a 4-1 card.
Last year, Gilas Pilipinas women and National U standout Jack Animam became the first local player to strut her stuff in Europe after a stint with Radnicki Kragujevac in Serbia.
