MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines Football League (PFL) is ready to proceed with the Copa Paulino Alcantara despite the withdrawal of United City FC from the Cup competition set to start on Sunday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
“Although with sadness, we understand the decision made by United City FC to not compete in this year’s Copa Paulino Alcantara based on the reasons they have shared with us,” PFL commissioner Coco Torre said.
“With that said, we are still eagerly anticipating the start of the Cup, which will push through with five participating clubs,” he added.
UCFC was originally seeded into Group A in the Copa, the PFL’s lone offering for 2021. This left Stallion Laguna FC and newcomer Dynamic Herb Cebu in a two-way contest for the top seeding in the group going to the crossover semifinals.
Group B will have a complete cast.
