MANILA, Philippines — The Motolite women’s volleyball team is here to stay.
Contrary to reports that it’s taking a leave of absence from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), team sources yesterday said Motolite, in fact, is on a rebuilding process.
The team is just waiting for the go signal from the government and the IATF for volleyball leagues in the country to enter the new normal before it makes its next move.
The source stressed that Motolite has not filed a leave of absence with the PVL and has no intention of disbanding the team bannered by former National University star Myla Pablo.
Motolite, the source added, has continued to take care of its players and has kept communication lines open amid the deadly pandemic, which caused the cancellation of the PVL’s 2020 season.
The Power Builders, including the coaches, continue to receive their salaries. The team is even planning to acquire new players.
“The team is just waiting for clear signals from the government regarding the mounting of volleyball tournaments to determine its next action,” the source said.
The PVL looks forward to the staging of its comeback tournament on April 10 at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
Motolite, owned by Philippine Batteries, Inc., runs under the slogan of “Pangmatagalan” (long-lasting).
“The team is intact,” the source added.
