Kids stay active, busy in online sports clinics
MANILA, Philippines — With the extended coronavirus lockdown, parents and kids need not worry about resuming the latter’s annual summer sports activities while observing the government’s stay home, stay safe guideline to help stop the spread of the dreaded disease as Milo Sports put up its online clinics featuring basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and taekwondo.
The clinics, accessible through YouTube, actually got under way last April 20 and will run till May 14 through the support of the Milo BEST Center, the Club Gymnastica and the Philippine Taekwondo Association. The new digital platform is aimed at making the four sports’ fundamentals accessible to kids under the guidance of pro coaches.
For years, Milo Sports has been holding summer clinics and camps for around 20 sports, keeping the kids active and busy and away from vices during summer.
The weekly series of instructional videos is part of the Milo Home Court initiative, which envisions and inspires parents and their kids to channel their energies positively at home through sports, hone their skills safely, and nurture the lifelong character-forming values that come with it such as discipline, hard work, and self-confidence.
The series of free training modules are designed for kids ages 7-12.
From April 20 to May 15, parents and their kids can access these videos on the respective YouTube channels of the partner organizers – The BEST Center (basketball and volleyball), PTA and Club Gymnastica Ph. They can also check out the Milo Philippines Facebook page for official announcements and updates on the clinics.
It focuses on a specific technique or skill that will allow participants to practice and develop their skills of their chosen sport with the programs developed with a scientific and modern approach by leading sports associations and organizers in the country. This guarantees that kids would get to enjoy fun, safe, and beginner-friendly training sessions. Parents and guardians are also urged to join their kids in following the instructions and performing the drills. Those who complete the four-week basic training sessions can watch out for special badges of participation on the Milo Philippines Facebook page that will recognize their hard work and celebrate the values learned during the experience.
