Sisters strike gold in soft tennis

MANILA, Philippines — Bien Zoleta-Mañalac emerged as another Team Phl double-gold medal performer with her shining show in soft tennis at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

A day after her triumph in singles event, Bien teamed up with sister Bambi for another golden effort in women’s doubles, demolishing Thailand’s Sawitre Naree and Natchatjira Kerdsombon, 1-0, in the finale.

“We did what we practiced in training,” said Zoleta-Manalac.

Bambi, a SEAG rookie, said the crowd provided them tremendous lift.

“Ang galing ng kalaban. Sobrang advantage lang namin na may home crowd. May point or error man kami, chine-cheer up pa rin nila kami,” the 27-year-old said.
