MANILA, Philippines — Xavier School, led by Scott Ng, Geoffrey Tan and Chaz Limketkai, pooled 530 points to wrest control in the Grades 1 to 3 division after four rounds of the Interschool golf tournament of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines recently.
Maria Montessori Children’s SFI assembled 461 points for second while British School Manila has 341 points for third heading to the last two rounds of the six-round, four-to-count tournament, which will be played at Riviera.
Ng has 189 points, while Tan and Limketkai have 173 and 168 points, respectively, for Xavier School, which is skippered by Oliver Gan, a former junior golf champion who represented the country in various international competitions.
“Their success only shows that they’re developing well even at a young age,” said Gan, currently the NCR sports director of the Philippine Sports Institute under the Philippine Sports Commission.
“I hope Xavier, as well as the other schools, will continue to support sports especially golf. We feel that these children have a good future if they continue to work hard and focus on their game,” said Gan.
Meanwhile, seven-year-old Nicole Gaisano Gan of Immaculate Conception Academy leads her division with 167 points through four rounds.
