MANILA, Philippines – National University’s ambitious build-up of its high school program continues following its impressive 74-70 win over La Salle in the Milcu Sports Basketball Presents Got Skills Elite Showcase last October 28 at the Lyceum gym.
Despite playing a college team, the Bullpups held their own in the 25-Under Division. Both sides changed leads multiple times, but it was the Bullpups behind Reyland Torres that took the win. Torres finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds in NU’s win.
In other 25-Under matches, the Lyceum Pirates turned back the tough high school squad of Chiang Kai Shek College, 69-61.
Carl Lumbao led LPU with 16 points and 4 rebounds while CKSC’s John Galinato top scored with 22.
In the 17-Under Division, the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, gearing up for its UAAP campaign in less than two weeks, defeated Lyceum’s Team B, 69-57, behind Kobe Palencia’s 18 points.
Palencia, who was discovered two years ago in the Palarong Pambansa by UST scouts, has been a dynamic scoring force and is expected to contend for the upcoming UAAP Juniors crown.
