DUBAI – Gary David hit five triples in the fourth quarter as Mighty Sports-Philippines closed out with a 94-80 victory over local side Ball Above All in the 28th Dubai International Basketball Championship at the Al Ahli Indoor Stadium here Thursday.
Jeron Teng actually came through with 22 points but it was David, a four-time scoring champion in the PBA who anchored the team’s strong finishing kick by drilling all his 15 points from beyond the arc, the last beating the shot clock for an 86-75 Mighty lead.
JC Intal secured the win with a putback in their next possession.
Mighty Sports thus closed out its failed campaign with a win after dropping their first five matches in varying fashions, including two that could’ve gone either way.
Aside from Teng and David, also shining for the Phl club backed by Rain or Shine and Scratch It were Intal and Ryan Araña.
