Pinoy top guns feted in defense arms show
MANILA, Philippines – For bringing pride and honor to the country, organizers of the 24th Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) Part 2 will give recognition to the generations of Pinoy top guns who have won in various world shooting competitions during the opening of the DSAS on Nov. 10 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
According to officials of the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD), led by its president, Atty. Hector Rodriguez, among those to be honored by their organizations are members of the Filipino contingent who won 56 gold medals in the Australasia shooting competition in Surubaya, Indonesia last August.
Among them were world shooting champions Jethro Dionisio, Roland Tan, Grace Tan, and Edward Rivera who are featured on the campaign posters for the five-day DSAS event.
For winning 56 gold medals, the National Anthem was also played 56 times during the awarding ceremonies at the Australasia event, it can be recalled.
“Filipino sportsmen are not only known globally for boxing like Sen. Manny Pacquiao. We also have a lot of fellow countrymen who are unbeatable in shooting competitions,” Rodriguez said.
