Wozniacki loses in injury comeback at Nottingham Open

NOTTINGHAM, England — Caroline Wozniacki lost in her second match since coming back from injury, falling to Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-5 Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) at the Nottingham Open.

The former top-ranked player from Denmark, seeded third, was playing at a tournament for the first time since rolling her right ankle in late March.

Top-seeded Karolina Pliskova advanced to the quarterfinals of the grass-court tournament by beating Anna Tatishvili 6-1, 6-3.

Also, Alison Riske of the United States beat Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan 6-2, 6-4, and fourth-seeded Monica Puig of Puerto Rico defeated Michelle Larcher de Brito of Portugal 6-4, 6-0.
