Bakers battle new-look Aguilas in PBA D-League

MANILA, Philippines – Café France opens its title defense against Topstar ZC Mindanao in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Still reeling from its Aspirants’ Cup defeat, the Bakers are going all out to redeem themselves with an intact roster led by Paul Zamar, Carl Bryan Cruz, and Congolese big man Rod Ebondo.

“We can’t wait to get back to the court,” said Café France coach Egay Macaraya.

Gametime is at 2 p.m.

The Bakers, however, expect a tougher challenge from the souped-up Aguilas, who will be backstopped by JR Cawaling and Robin Rono.

Tanduay, meanwhile, is out to come up with a follow-up to its impressive showing in the first conference as it tangles with AMA Online Education, coached by Mark Herrera,  at 4 p.m.

“After making the semis, it’s just logical for us to aspire to hurdle that phase this time around,” said Tanduay mentor Lawrence Chongson.

Heading the Rhum Masters’ campaign are veterans Rudy Lingganay and Val Acuña with new recruits Gelo Alolino and Louie Vigil tipped to provide the needed firepower.

On the other hand, Rey Publico and Jaycee Asuncion will be the Titans to watch.
