MANILA, Philippines – Forty teams slug it out for top honors and bragging rights as the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club holds its inaugural pro-am tournament today at Aoki course of the sprawling golf complex in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Play will be a one-ball, twosome (alternate shot) format with the winning pair to receive P25,000 (pro) and trophy (amateur) in the 18-hole tournament sponsored by WG Golf, LK Golf Management, VAST Agro Solution, Cross-Link Electric Corp., Sta. Lucia Land, Hosea Aircon Service and STD General Contractors.
Organizers said the 18-hole tournament, offering a total prize fund of P100,000, features some of the leading pros on the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour, including brothers Jay and Rufino Bayron, Marvin Dumandan, Ferdie Aunzo, Jun Bernis, Artemio Murakami, Michael Bibat, Tonlits Asistio and the long-hitting Orlan Sumcad.
Under the format, a pro can choose his amateur partner, either male or female, although the latter has to be 12 years old and above with a UNHS or USGA handicap. But if the pro is among the Top 20 in the 2015 ICTSI Order of Merit ranking, his partner must have a handicap index of no lower than 10 and below.
