Hobe stretches DELeague romp

MANILA, Philippines – Hobe Bihon-Cars Unlimited trounced Our Lady of Fatima University Phoenix, 117-63, to stretch its win run to three in the fifth DELeague basketball tournament at the Marikina Sports Center Thursday night.

Former PBA player Ronnie Zagala scored 23 points while Rodriguez Ebundo backed him up with 22 points as Hobe Bihon, the 2012 and 2013 champion, seized the solo lead in Group A.

OLFU drew 13 points apiece from Martin Gozon and Jerome Juanico but just couldn’t match Hobe Bihon’s explosive run and took its second straight setback.

Far Eastern University-NRMF defeated Metro Pacific Toll Corp., 88-63, to post its second straight win in the tournament sponsored by PSBank, Accel Sportswear, PCA-Marivalley, Angel’s Burger, Mckie’s Construction Equipment Sales and Rentals, Luyong Panciteria, Azucar Boulangerie and Patisserie, JAJ Quick Print Advertising, Mall Tile Experts Corporation, Jay Marcelo Tires, Polar Glass and Aluminum Supply and Mr. and Mrs. Dot Escalona.

Leo Najorda topscored for FEU-NRMF with 16 points and finished with five rebounds while Brite Akhuete powered his way to 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Macway Travel takes on Sta. Lucia Land Inc. tonight while Hobe Bihon-Cars Unlimited and FEU-NRMF clash in a duel of unbeaten teams.
