MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino prodigy Kobe Paras has started playing for his new team, the Middlebrooks Academy, in weekend games at The League while waiting for the regular high school season to get underway.
The UCLA-bound Paras looks sharp and ready to get his senior year on a roll after he was forced to make the transfer to the Sphinx from his former team, the LA Cathedral Phantoms, due to the difference of academic calendars of the US and the Philippines.
If he opted to stay with the Phantoms, he is only eligible to play up until the first half of his final season. Paras is still enrolled at the LA Cathedral and will finish his high school stuides there.
At the Middlebrooks Academy, Paras will still be under his high school coach William Middlebrooks, who helped facilitate his recruitment at the UCLA Bruins, the winningest school in the US NCAA Division I.
