MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police shoots for its fourth straight win when it faces Malacañang tomorrow in Group A elims while defending champion Judiciary tries to end a three-game losing run in the fourth UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Coming off a 78-66 win over National Housing Authority, the PNP Responders are slightly favored over Malacañang Patriots in their 5 p.m. encounter.
Bannered by former University of the East player Ollan Omiping and Antonio Tolentino, PNP is the only unbeaten team in Group A while former champion Armed Forces of the Philippines is also undefeated in Group B.
The Responders, however, will be facing a team still fresh from an 88-74 drubbing of the Kenneth Duremdes-led Senate Defenders on Sept. 27.
Samuel Ignacio, Visnu Das Javier and former University of the Philippines star Jenkins Mesina starred for Malacañang’s victory, which enabled the Patriots to even their record to 1-1.
The Judiciary Magis will be looking for their first win when they clash with the Ombudsman Graft Busters at 3:30 p.m. while the Metro Manila Development Authority Black Wolves try to follow up their 82-60 thrashing of the House of Representatives Solons when they take on the Bureau of Fire Protection Fire Fighters at 2 p.m.
Former PBA player Don Camaso and reigning MVP Ariel Capus need to produce huge numbers if they want to help the Magis barge into the win column.
