MANILA, Philippines - Youth Olympian Carlos Yulo bagged the bronze in vault competition of the 2015 International Junior Gymnastics Championship at the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium in Yokohama, Japan last Thursday.
Nanjing Youth Olympics winner Regini Moran of Great Britain captured the gold and Chinese Yue Ma gained the silver with the Filipino bet, a multi-titled and Asean school champion, finishing third in the tournament sanctioned by the Federation International Gymnastics (FIG).
Meanwhile, Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion reiterated her call for both the private and government sectors to help Yulo train for a possible crack at the 2020 Olympics.
“Winning along with the YOG gold medalist is a solid proof that he has a big potential in getting gold medal if given the proper training,” said Carrion.
Carrion said that GAP is raising funds to send Yulo to a training camp in Japan for a year. She also said that those interested to help may call the Gymnastics Training Center at (02) 521.2640.
