PUERTO Princesa, Palawan -- GlobalPort's flamboyant guard Terrence Romeo survived a big scare from James Yap to win the 3-point shootout on Friday's Skills Challenge ushering in the PBA All Star Weekend here.

It was a dream come true for Romeo to beat a star-studded cast led by Yap and dethroned four-time champion Mark Macapagal, and former champions Jimmy Alapag and Chris Tiu.

"Pangarap ko lang dati ito pero ngayon nanalo na ako," said Romeo, who won P60,000 cash for his first major award in the league.

The current Commissioner's Cup scoring leader waxed hot early on scoring 18 points in the first round to tie with Yap and JC Intal.

In the final round, Intal could only score 11 while Yap hit 14 and ran out of time with his last rack left unfinished.
