MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top drivers head back to south as they resume their title chase in the second leg of the 2015 National Drag Racing Championship Southern Series tomorrow at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.
Multi-titled defending national champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing and reigning M&H Pro champion Martin Manalo rekindle their rivalry in the top classes even as a slew of fresh talents joins the title hunt in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Tiu, backed by comebacking teammate Jonathan Young, is eyeing a repeat of his Quick 8 victory in the Southern Series kickoff leg aboard his reliable Nissan R35.
Manalo, on the other hand, seeks to defend his crown in the premiere M&H Pro class with his younger brother and former Southern Series champion Marc Manalo backing him up in the event sponsored by Clark International Motor Show (CIMS), M&H, Sparco, Aguila Auto Glass and GT Radials.
Marc Manalo took over after Martin headed for the early exit and moved on to challenge Tiu for the Quick 8 plum. In the M&H Pro class, Marc gave Tiu the early exit and also helped Martin recover from the loser’s bracket all the way to victory over Young.
Little-known Mark Mabiliran also hopes to duplicate his feat as Expert champion even as Arvin Jay Millet of TEMZ tries to regain his form.
Also out to make it two-in-row are Robert Palmero II in the Sportsman class and Cer Oliriz Alcala in the Hotstreet division.
Meanwhile, Clark International Speedway will host the third leg of the 2015 Philippine Drag Racing Championship Northern Series on March 28.
