MANILA, Philippines - Adrian Gallardo sizzled on offense as deposed champ Ceres-La Salle FC routed Stallion FC to console itself with third place honors in the PFF Smart National Club Championship last night at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Gallardo fired five goals and assisted in Nate Burkey’s strike as the Bacolod-based club settled for bronze after topping the tournament the last two editions.
Ceres’ bid for a three-peat was foiled by archrival Global FC, which eked out a 3-1 victory in extra time in Friday’s semis.
Global and Loyola Meralco Sparks were disputing the vacant title at presstime. The Sparks advanced via a 2-1 verdict over Stallion in their side of the semis.
