MANILA, Philippines – The FEU Tamaraws moved one win away from the championship with a 75-70 victory over the NU Bullldogs in Game 1 of the UAAP men’s basketball finals Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
Mike Tolomia finished with 15 points for the Tamaraws, who made up for a slow start with runs in the third and fourth quarters to grab the lead, eventually holding on to the win. The Morayta-based squad also got solid contributions from Roger Pogoy and Archie Inigo, who chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively, and stood out with their own personal runs in the second half.
Alfred Aroga scattered a game-high 17 points while Gelo Alolino added 14 for the Bulldogs, who threatened in the final canto but came up short.
Game 2 is on Wednesday.
