OKLAHOMA CITY -- Thunder coach Scott Brooks thinks Russell Westbrook is the best point guard in the NBA.
Westbrook wholeheartedly agrees.
Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul could argue with Brooks, as could several others. But Westbrook's numbers and overall success show that the statement isn't far-fetched.
Westbrook's Thunder beat Paul's Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals last year. Westbrook's playoff stats were jaw-dropping - he posted averages of 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 19 games.
Westbrook took over at times during the playoffs, even with MVP Kevin Durant on the floor. He had three triple-doubles during a five-game stretch and had 40 points and 10 assists against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.
