Manila leg of national Milo run slated July 27
MANILA, Philippines - The Manila leg of the 38th National Milo Marathon gets going July 27 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.
The winners of the full marathon receive a cash prize of P50,000 and a trophy, while the victors of the 21K get P10,000 and a trophy. Runners who finish within the specified age-bracket and cut-off time per division will also get a slot in the national finals on Dec. 7.
The Manila leg is expected to draw elite runners, including former marathon queens Jho-an Banayag, Mary Grace Delos Santos and Aileen Tolentino, and Philippine National Games champion Rafael Poliquit.
The male and female champions will be sent by Milo to Japan to compete in the 2015 Tokyo Marathon, one of the six grand prix races in the world aside from the Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, and London international marathons.
Also on tap are the 3K and 5K divisions for young and celebrity running enthusiasts, including Milo R2 Apex Running School founder Jim Saret, his wife and fellow coach Toni Saret, and 2014 The Biggest Loser contestants Ralph David Du, Yves Christian Du, Patricia Castillo, Bryan Castillo, Francis Asis, Mark Andrew Mavrides, Jepoy Arcilla, Tristan Nueva, Carl Lazaro, Cayen Lazaro, Patricia Martinez and Ma. Victoria Joy Nebreja.
