Ramos rules jungolf opener

MANILA, Philippines - Sean Ramos nipped Sean Granada in a sudden-death playoff for the boys Class D (9-10 years) division that highlighted the recent opening leg of the ICTSI-JGFP School Season Series jointly hosted by the Philippine Navy and Philippine Army courses.

Ramos and Granada continued their season-long rivalry by winding up with similar 84-point totals in the best two-out-of-three-rounds competition. Ramos prevailed this time in the tourney that also served as a warmup for local bets to the coming Callaway Junior World championships in San Diego, California.

Aldo Barro and Annika Cedo shared top honors in Class A (15-17 years), Marc Corrales and Tomi Arejola prevailed in Class B (13-14 years), Josh Jorge and Mariel emerged the winners in Class C (11-12), Sam Dizon was the girls winner in Class D, Andrew Chua and  Dang Dela Paz took the big trophies in Class E (7-8) while Miko Granada and Reese Ng topped the competition in Class F (6 and under) of the tourney conducted by The Junior Golfers League.

ICTSI is the main backer of the School Season Series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines with Martin Lorenzo, the Philippine Golf Foundation, Crystal Catx, Inquirer Golf, Golf Depot and Pacsports as other sponsors.

Barro (60 points) and Cedo (95) wound up far ahead of Sean Yu (43) and Bela Miravite (72), respectively. Corrales (86) denied Barro’s younger brother Paqo who chalked up 84 while Tee (70) and Jorge (97) primed up for their Junior World campaign by coasting to easy victories over Laia Barro (63) and Perry Bucay (89).

Dizon (62) beat Xam Calugas by five, Chan (109) finished 10 ahead of Vince Tiamsic and Miko Granada (86) earned a 14-point win over Joshua Cruz. Dang dela Paz (60) won over Alexi Blanco (18) while both Arejola and Ng were unchallenged.
