MANILA, Philippines - Raymart Tolentino and Daniella Uy disposed of their rivals in contrasting fashion in the centerpiece 15-17 years division at the start of the match play phase of the Philippine Golf Foundation Junior Masters at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Tolentino, the division favorite starting as the No. 3 seed, squeaked past No. 6 Argie Quino 2&1 while Uy, seeking her third straight major crown, dominated Rhea Langgamin 3&2 in the girls side to advance to the semifinal phase of the tournament conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.
Dan Cruz, who grabbed the No.1 ranking with the only sub-par score in the seeding round, was more impressive in a 5&4 domination of Ronel Tagaan but will have a tough assignment in Jelbert Gamolo of Del Monte, who beat Airon Sorino, 6&5. Tolentino will face Lanz Uy, a 2&1 winner over Joseph Orbito in the other semis duel.
Uy, winner of two match play events of the NGAP series, outclassed Langgamin. Also winning their matches were Pamela Mariano, 3&1 over Nikki Bruce; Chanelle Avaricio, 6&4 over Joan Hortellano, and Abby Arevalo, 7&5 over Gabrielle Marie Crystal.
Advancing to the boys 13-14 semis were Jets Sajulga, Ryan Monsalve, Ira Alido and Russel Bautista.
